Sketchbook drawing is one of the most important disciplines for me. Sketchbook work stimulates my imagination and helps me to see things in a different way. Some of the pages are simply about abstracted marks and colour. I don’t see these as finished paintings but a ‘working out’ of my thoughts and process.
The representational drawings are more about the challenge of observation and the rendering of the drawing. It is an opportunity to explore form, tone and light with gestural or expressive marks which I can carry through to my painting.
You will see people, nature and studies of abstracted colour in my gallery. My vision is to bring all of these elements together into one painting. Currently each are separate entities with occasional cross overs. This is my journey of discovering a style, subject matter and concept which is uniquely birthed from my sense of purpose, beliefs and experiences in life.
